She also has experience working in mental health and international development charities. She has an MA in Liberal Arts from the University of Bristol.

She is particularly interested in reducing inequality and ensuring the needs of minoritised communities are authentically understood and met. Her paper on the challenges facing Black and Asian victims of violence was shortlisted in the Nazir Afzal Essay Competition and published by the University of Central Lancashire. She is a communications volunteer for the UN’s International Organization for Migration and prior to this she volunteered as an English tutor for the Access Project.

As a UK delegate to the Y7 she is excited to work with her peers within an international framework to ensure that young people’s views are represented in global decision-making. She is keen to keep accessibility on the agenda and highlight the importance of diversifying and broadening policy spaces.

Global Health and Solidarity Track

Zain holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford and a medical degree from the University of London. During his time at university, he was a keen supporter of several access initiatives and was an elected representative for the Oxford Student Union. Since graduation, he has built up a range of experience in the private and public sector having worked across several financial institutions and government departments including the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Justice.

He is currently a Director at one of the world’s largest healthcare companies. In his spare time, he is an avid reader and keen contributor to several voluntary initiatives including sitting on the Board of a multi-academy schools trust based in London. Zain’s interest in global health began whilst he was supporting NGOs and small businesses with their strategy in Africa. This led to various public health focused research projects both in the UK and overseas, including primary research in addressing the burden of childhood obesity in Mexico.

Given his professional background as a Doctor and interest in public health, he is particularly excited to be representing the UK at the Y7 as the Global Health Delegate.
