Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Delegate

Charlie is a trainee solicitor at Norton Rose Fulbright, specialising in energy and environmental law and advising international clients on risks arising from the energy transition, including novel forms of climate litigation and developments in greenwashing regulation.

Prior to this, he obtained an LL.B. from the University of Bristol and received the Debbie Philips Prize for graduating first in his year. His thesis, which evaluated the indigenous-led enviro-legal movement Vivir Bien, received the Head of Law School Award for highest dissertation mark.

Charlie is passionate about empowering young people to access the highest levels of global decision-making, having led the COP Team at the environmental NGO ClimaTalk. As a COP26 and ‘27 delegate, he has interviewed a range of stakeholders, including city mayors, charity heads and indigenous leaders, to demystify the UNFCCC and international climate negotiations. He is also an editor at Human Rights Pulse, producing research that explores the intersection of human rights and the climate crisis.

Whilst at university, Charlie ran classes on public speaking for disadvantaged children in Bristol and has occasionally worked with youth empowerment charities abroad.

As Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Delegate, Charlie looks forward to advocating on behalf of young people for ambitious policies that will accelerate the G20’s response to the climate crisis.


Future of Work: Innovation, Industry and 21st Century Skills

Janet Siwoku is an Operational Resilience consultant at a prestigious Global Investment Management Firm, T.Rowe Price. Prior to this, Janet was at the Bank of England for over 5 years where she learnt about the wider implications of economic policies and decisions, and how they affect the lives of everyday citizens.

Janet graduated from BPP Business School in 2022 with her dissertation topic being how the Bank of England could improve their diversity in Apprentices and new hires. This work led her to be recognised and invited by the Governor of the Bank of England to welcome King Charles and HRH Camilla for the Governors commemoration.

Janet has a passion for being a change maker in the world and this is illustrated by her being selected to sit on the Ernst & Young’s Climate Change COP26 board. This experience broadened her knowledge on the intersectionality between Economics and Climate Change. Furthermore, she participates in T.Rowe Price’s Money Confident Kids in which she goes out to schools to teach young kids the importance of financial literacy and how they can be best placed for a bright financial future. Lastly, she mentors and provides guidance to young girls who want to break into the financial sector.

In her role as Future of Work delegate, Janet aims to become an ambassador and accurately represent young people and truly contribute to actionable policy that can change the lives of the youth across the United Kingdom.

James frater

James Frater, Y20 2023 Health, Wellbeing and Sport Delegate

Policy Advocacy Delegate

Dr James Frater is a medically trained doctor, the UK Y20 Delegate for Health, Wellbeing & Sport, as well as a Healthtech & Innovation Fellow.

He is also a Governor & Equalities Lead at an all-through school, and sits on the Youth Advisory Board for the EY Foundation.

Equipped with the language and experiences to fully understand inequitable access to resources, he has taken up opportunities to reduce inequity and enhance resilience in resource-poor contexts. His aim is to contribute to open productive dialogue, robust research and transformative action for the communities that need it the most.


Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War

Eloise is a Committee Specialist in the House of Commons International Affairs Unit. In this role, she works closely with the Parliamentary Select Committees, including the Foreign Affairs Committee, International Trade Committee, and the Defence Committee amongst others, to lead inquiries and support the Committees and MPs in their scrutiny work. In particular, Eloise focuses on China policy, and she actively oversees and implements initiatives to promote Mandarin language learning and improve China capabilities across Parliament.  

Eloise is a director of Young China Watchers London and focuses on North-East Asian regional security and diplomacy within this role. Eloise is also currently completing a master’s module in Global Diplomacy at SOAS, University of London. 

Prior to her current role, Eloise worked in local government and across Whitehall covering portfolios relating to foreign policy and international trade. Eloise graduated with a first-class degree in BA Chinese Studies from the University of Manchester in 2019 and was a recipient of the EU-China scholarship to study Mandarin Chinese at Tsinghua University in Beijing.  

In her role as a delegate, Eloise is excited to represent the voice of young people from the UK and work with international peers promote global peace and security and seek solutions to prevent future conflict.

Ritvij Vikram Singh, Y20 2023 Shared Future Delegate

Health, Wellbeing and Sports

Ritvij Singh is a doctor with an interest in global affairs and health diplomacy.

He is currently a junior doctor at the University Hospital of Wales. His published research has featured in prestigious medical journals including Nature’s Digital Medicine and the Cochrane Library. He holds a degree in Medicine from Imperial College London and a BSc in Management from Imperial College Business School.

This winter he attended the competitive Harvard Business School intensive seminar on Value Based Health Care. Previously, he was a Molchanov Sustainability Intern at Chatham House. In this role he worked with the Global Health Programme on a wide spectrum of projects across the themes of universal health coverage; health security; and one health. While working with international development partners he has developed a keen interest in the role of democracy in an increasingly divided world order.

He is looking forward to hearing the perspectives of delegates from the rest of the Y20 on the state of democracy and governance in their countries and jointly developing policy recommendations.

WALKER DARKE

Walker is a PhD candidate in sustainable policy development at Fudan University in China. He has a bachelor's in French and Music at Canterbury Christ Church University, and a Master of Laws in International Relations from Peking University. In addition, Walker is a consultant to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the United Nations Development Programme supporting sustainable energy policy making and communications.

One of Walker's notable achievements is his role as the lead author of the United Nations Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality by 2050 for Europe, North America, and Central Asia. For this work, Walker was recognized as a Forbes Under 30 honoree in 2023.Previously working for the European Commission, he is also a strong advocate of nurturing diversity and inter-cultural understanding working with organizations such as the Patchwork Foundation, the THINC fellowship and FIFA Fan Movement. Despite his name, he likes to run.

Walker is delighted to be named as a delegate on Youth in Democracy and Governance. He shares a common passion with fellow delegates in getting young people involved in global decision-making. Drawing inspiration from his prior involvement with international bodies like the United Nations and European Commission, Walker hopes to bridge policy with practice in sustainable governance and amplify young voices in shaping a sustainable and inclusive global future.
