UN HIGH LEVEL POLITICAL FORUM

The Future Leaders Network is seeking a talented young leader to represent the United Kingdom at the 2019 UN High Level Political Forum. The delegate will join the UK delegation, led by the Secretary of State for International Development, Rt. Hon. Rory Stewart OBE MP, to present the UK’s Voluntary National Review of its progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Youth Delegate would be expected to address the UN attendees during the UK presentation to outline the pressing issue of climate change and discuss steps the UK have taken to address it. This is a phenomenal opportunity to be invited to and actively participate at the highest level of multilateral engagement.

The opportunity will be fully funded, in so far as flights accommodation and in conference costs will be covered.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:

Be available to attend the Forum in full between 15-17th July 2019
Be a British citizen with a valid UK passport
Be aged between 18-30 years old

Job Description

Describe your interests and goals, how they have developed over time and how attending and presenting at the UN High Level Political Forum would help advance your goals. Include specific situations in your professional, academic, or personal life when you have directly worked on or with the Sustainable Development Goals. (500 words MAX)

Describe your background in climate change and why you may be considered an expert in this field. Tell us about the relevant factors that must be taken into consideration when trying to tackle the issue; the evidence available; and synthesise a proposal that would contribute to solving the problem. (500 words)

Describe your experience in high-level public speaking, and explain why you believe you are prepared to speak to an audience of several hundred global leaders on the pressing issue of climate change. Please also use this space to describe any media coverage you have had in the last 12 months (250 words MAX)
