14 May 2021, United Kingdom
Future Leader’s Network, chair of the Youth 7 (Y7) Summit, is pleased to announce sponsorship support of AstraZeneca, one of the U.K.’s leading biopharmaceutical companies as part of its commitment to support the voices of young leaders.
The Youth 7 (Y7) is one of six engagement groups supported by the U.K. Government during its 2021 G7 Presidency, with the others being the Business 7, Civil Society 7, Labour 7, Women 7 and Science 7.
Young leaders from each of the seven G7 countries, plus the EU and Australia, have worked tirelessly together over the last four months, to develop policy recommendations on behalf of youth. Their recommendations - known as a communique - will be presented by Y7 delegates to the U.K.’s G7 Sherpa at the Y7 2021 Summit on Friday 14 May.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome AstraZeneca as our sponsor for this year’s Y7 Summit,” says Sophie Daud, Chief Executive of the Future Leaders Network.
“We know that AstraZeneca is committed to empowering the youth voice, aligning perfectly with the aspirations of the Y7 2021 to ‘Make Waves for Future Generations’. We are proud to be working with them to champion the voices of young people now, and yet to come, and ensure the youth recommendations are heard at this year’s G7 Summit.”
Supporting the development of young leaders has been a focal point of AstraZeneca’s global philanthropic work for over a decade through its Young Health Programme. It is also a principle of their internal talent and development activities.
“We believe that to ensure our health systems are equitable and robust, we must actively engage young people in policy discussions to shape a healthier, more sustainable future,” said Tom Keith-Roach, President, AstraZeneca UK. “We’re proud to be sponsoring this year’s Y7 summit, and are committed to developing young health leaders of the future through our early talent, scholarship and Young Health Programmes.”
In 2021, the U.K. hosts the G7 Presidency. The G7 Leaders Summit will take place 11 - 13 June in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.
The Y7 2021 is hosted by the Future Leaders Network and the Summit took place virtually on 8 - 9 May and 14 - 15 May.
