Walker Darke
Youth in Democracy and Governance
Walker is a PhD candidate in sustainable policy development at Fudan University in China. He has a bachelor’s in French and Music at Canterbury Christ Church University, and a Master of Laws in International Relations from Peking University. In addition, Walker is a consultant to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the United Nations Development Programme supporting sustainable energy policy making and communications.
One of Walker’s notable achievements is his role as the lead author of the United Nations Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality by 2050 for Europe, North America, and Central Asia. For this work, Walker was recognized as a Forbes Under 30 honoree in 2023. Previously working for the European Commission, he is also a strong advocate of nurturing diversity and inter-cultural understanding working with organizations such as the Patchwork Foundation, the THINC fellowship and FIFA Fan Movement. Despite his name, he likes to run.
Walker is delighted to be named as a delegate on Youth in Democracy and Governance. He shares a common passion with fellow delegates in getting young people involved in global decision-making. Drawing inspiration from his prior involvement with international bodies like the United Nations and European Commission, Walker hopes to bridge policy with practice in sustainable governance and amplify young voices in shaping a sustainable and inclusive global future.
